The home office launched their firekills campaign on Tuesday with the idea being to encourage people to check the smoke alarms in there homes. Its important to check your smoke alarms every month to make sure that they are still operating correctly and keeping you safe in your home. The Fire Minister, Brandon Lewis visited Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service in Luton to officially launch the campaign.
In 2015, over 200 people died in fires in the home. You’re at least 7 times more likely to die in a fire in the home if there are no working smoke alarms. It only takes a moment to test and gives your family and people you care about a better chance of surviving a fire.
